Who is eligible for the Canada Child Benefit (CCB)?
The CCB is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help with the cost of raising children under the age of 18. To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a resident of Canada.
- You must be the primary caregiver of a child who is under the age of 18.
- You must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
How much is the CCB?
The amount of the CCB you receive depends on the number and age of your children. Children are placed into one of three categories:
- Children under 6 years old: basic amount
- Children between 6 and 11 years old: middle amount
- Children between 12 and 17 years old: highest amount
In 2023, the monthly payment amounts for each child are as follows:
- Children under 6 years old: $128.92
- Children between 6 and 11 years old: $165.53
- Children between 12 and 17 years old: $203.75
When is the CCB payment date?
The CCB payment date for July 2023 is next week, on Friday, July 21st, 2023. Payments are typically deposited into your bank account on the 20th of each month. However, if the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment will be deposited on the next business day.
How to apply for the CCB
You can apply for the CCB online through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) website, or by phone at 1-800-387-1193. You will need to provide your SIN, your child's SIN, and your banking information. The CRA will assess your eligibility and determine the amount of your benefit.
