City of Santa Barbara Awards Construction Contract for New Police Station Project
New Facility to Enhance Public Safety and Serve Growing Community
Santa Barbara, CA – January 5, 2023 –
The City of Santa Barbara has awarded a construction contract to Clark Construction Group for the new police station project. The new facility will replace the existing station, which has become outdated and inadequate to meet the needs of the growing community.
The new police station will be located at 310 E Ortega St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. The three-story, 66,500-square-foot building will include state-of-the-art crime labs, interview rooms, and holding cells. It will also feature a community room for public meetings and events.
The project is expected to be completed in 2025. Once completed, the new police station will provide the Santa Barbara Police Department with a modern and efficient facility to serve the community.
The City Council unanimously approved the contract with Clark Construction Group at its meeting on December 13, 2022. The contract is for $69 million.
"This is a major investment in public safety for our community," said Mayor Randy Rowse. "The new police station will provide our officers with the resources they need to keep our city safe."
Police Chief Lori Luhnow said the new station will be a "significant upgrade" for the department. "This new facility will allow us to better serve the community and provide our officers with the tools they need to do their jobs effectively."
The new police station is part of the City's long-range plan to improve public safety. The City has also recently invested in new police vehicles and equipment.
The City of Santa Barbara is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for its residents and visitors. The new police station is a key part of that commitment.
