De la Fuente delighted with win at Denmark: 'This team respond in any situation'
Spain boss hails his team's character after coming from behind to beat Denmark
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente was delighted with his team's character after they came from behind to beat Denmark 2-1 on Wednesday. The victory was Spain's second in a row under De la Fuente, who took over from Luis Enrique after the World Cup.
Denmark took the lead in the first half through Andreas Cornelius, but Spain hit back after the break with goals from Marco Asensio and Dani Olmo. The win moves Spain top of their Nations League group, and De la Fuente was full of praise for his players.
"I am very happy with the team's performance," said De la Fuente. "We showed great character to come from behind and win the game. This team respond in any situation."
De la Fuente also praised the impact of his substitutes, who made a difference after coming on in the second half.
"The substitutes were very important," said De la Fuente. "They brought energy and quality to the team. I am very happy with their contribution."
Spain will now face Switzerland in their next Nations League game on Saturday. De la Fuente will be hoping his team can continue their good form and secure another victory.
