Denmark must make ‘adjustments' to beat Spain, says Hojbjerg
The midfielder has warned his team-mates that they must improve their recent performances in order to overcome Spain in the UEFA Nations League.
“We have to make some adjustments,” he said. “We have to be more compact and we have to be more aggressive.
“We have to be more on the front foot and we have to be more decisive in the final third,” the Tottenham Hotspur star continued.
Hojbjerg’s comments come after Denmark lost 2-1 to Croatia in their last Nations League match.
The defeat means that Denmark are now bottom of Group A1, with just one point from their three matches.
Spain, on the other hand, are top of the group with seven points from their three matches.
The two teams will meet in Copenhagen on Sunday in a match that could decide who wins the group.
Hojbjerg knows that Denmark will need to be at their best to beat Spain.
“We have to be at our very best to beat Spain,” he said. “They are a great team with great players and they are very experienced.”
“But we have a good team too and we have a lot of quality. We have to believe in ourselves and we have to go out there and give it our all.
Hojbjerg’s comments will be a concern to Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand.
Hjulmand has been under pressure after Denmark’s poor start to the Nations League.
He will be hoping that his team can turn things around against Spain and secure a much-needed win.
