Ibarra’s wife: ‘I need to know what happened to that girl’

Jose Ibarra's wife made an emotional plea to her husband in a jailhouse call, demanding to know what happened to Laken Riley, the 16-year-old girl who disappeared from her Oklahoma home in 2020 and was later found dead.

“I need to know what happened to that girl,” she said. “I need to know the truth.”

Ibarra has pleaded not guilty to Riley’s murder

Ibarra, 30, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and kidnapping in Riley’s death. He is accused of abducting Riley from her home in Claremore, Oklahoma, on June 10, 2020, and killing her.

Riley’s body was found in a shallow grave in a wooded area near Inola, Oklahoma, on June 12, 2020.

Ibarra’s wife: ‘I just want to know the truth’

In the jailhouse call, Ibarra’s wife told him that she had been following the trial closely and that she was scared for him.

“I just want to know the truth,” she said. “I just want to know what happened.”

Ibarra’s trial is ongoing

Ibarra’s trial is ongoing in Rogers County District Court. The jury is expected to begin deliberating on Thursday.
