Luis de la Fuente eases injury fears for Spain pair after Denmark victory

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has allayed injury fears for Aymeric Laporte and Dani Carvajal after both players were forced off in the 3-0 victory over Denmark on Tuesday.

Key Points:

- Spain beat Denmark 3-0 in a friendly match. - Aymeric Laporte and Dani Carvajal were forced off with injuries. - De la Fuente said the injuries were not serious.

Laporte sustained a knock to his right knee after a collision with Denmark striker Andreas Cornelius in the first half, while Carvajal picked up a muscle problem in the second half.

However, De la Fuente said after the game that both players were expected to be fit for Spain's next game, a friendly against Switzerland on June 24.

"Laporte has a knock on his knee, but it's not serious," De la Fuente said. "Carvajal has a muscle problem, but again, it's not serious.

"We'll have to assess them further, but we're confident they'll be available for the next game."

Spain's victory over Denmark was their second in a row since De la Fuente took over as coach following the sacking of Luis Enrique after the World Cup.

The win also saw Ansu Fati score his first goal for Spain since November 2020, while Marco Asensio and Nico Williams also got on the scoresheet.

De la Fuente was pleased with his team's performance, but said there is still room for improvement.

"We played very well tonight, but we can still improve," he said.

"We need to be more clinical in front of goal and we need to be more solid defensively.

"But overall, I'm happy with the performance and the result."

Spain will now face Switzerland in a friendly at the Stade de Geneve on June 24 before beginning their UEFA Nations League campaign against Portugal on September 2.
