Maple Leafs acquire O'Reilly, Acciari, and Gaudette to make playoff push
Lightning make a series of moves at the NHL trade deadline
Deal sends multiple players and draft picks between the two clubs
The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired Ryan O'Reilly, Noel Acciari, and Adam Gaudette from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Mikhail Abramov, Adam Gaudette, and a 2023 first-round pick. The deal was made in an effort to bolster the Maple Leafs' playoff chances, as they currently sit third in the Atlantic Division.
O'Reilly is a two-time Selke Trophy winner and was a key member of the Blues' Stanley Cup-winning team in 2019. He is a veteran centerman who can contribute both offensively and defensively. Acciari is a physical forward who can play both center and wing. Gaudette is a young forward who has shown some promise in his career.
The Maple Leafs have been looking for a top-six centerman all season, and O'Reilly fits the bill. He is a skilled player who can make plays and score goals. Acciari and Gaudette will provide depth to the Maple Leafs' forward group.
The Blues, meanwhile, get a young player in Abramov and a first-round pick in the deal. Abramov is a skilled forward who has shown some promise in his young career. The Blues are hoping that he can develop into a top-six forward in the future.
