NATIONS LEAGUE: Croatia reaches quarter-finals with draw against Portugal, Poland relegated from Division A
Croatia held on to a 0-0 draw against Portugal in their final Group A3 match on Tuesday to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Nations League.
The result means that Croatia finished second in the group behind Portugal, who had already qualified for the last eight. Poland, who lost 1-0 to Italy in the other Group A3 match, were relegated to Division B.
Croatia dominated the first half and had the better chances, but they were unable to find the breakthrough. Portugal improved after the break, but they were also unable to score.
The draw means that Croatia will face the winner of Group A4 in the quarter-finals. Portugal will face the winner of Group A2.
The quarter-finals will be played on June 14 and 15, with the semi-finals being played on June 18 and the final on June 21.
Croatia will be hoping to reach the final of the Nations League for the second time, having lost to Portugal in the inaugural tournament in 2019.
Portugal will be looking to win the tournament for the first time, having finished runners-up in 2019.
