Nebraska Scholastic Writing Awards accepting entries for annual contest

Nebraska students in grades 7-12 are invited to submit their best writing for a chance to win cash prizes and recognition.

The Nebraska Scholastic Writing Awards are presented by the Omaha World-Herald and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The contest is open to students in grades 7-12 who live in Nebraska or attend a Nebraska school.

Students can submit their work in the following categories:

Entries will be judged by a panel of professional writers and educators. Winners will be announced in March 2023. First-place winners in each category will receive a $500 cash prize. Second-place winners will receive a $250 cash prize. Third-place winners will receive a $100 cash prize.

In addition to the cash prizes, winners will also receive a certificate of recognition and their work will be published in the Omaha World-Herald. The top entries will also be eligible for national recognition through the Scholastic Writing Awards.
