Nebraska Scholastic Writing Awards Now Accepting Entries

Applications Due – January 15, 2023
The Nebraska Scholastic Writing Awards, a program of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, is now accepting submissions for the 2022-2023 school year.
The awards recognize outstanding writing by Nebraska high school students in the following categories:
- Fiction
- Nonfiction
- Poetry
To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a Nebraska high school and submit their work by January 15, 2023.
A panel of Nebraska educators will judge the submissions, and winners will be announced in March 2023.
The Nebraska Scholastic Writing Awards are a great way for students to showcase their writing skills and earn recognition for their work.

Submission Guidelines
Students can submit their work online or by mail.
To submit online, students will need to create an account on the Scholastic website.
To submit by mail, students should send their work to:
Nebraska Scholastic Writing Awards c/o The Nebraska Arts Council 1313 Farnam Street Omaha, NE 68102
Submissions must include the following:
- A cover page with the student's name, school, grade, and contact information
- The student's writing submission
- A $5 entry fee (payable online or by check)
Prizes
Winners of the Nebraska Scholastic Writing Awards will receive cash prizes and recognition at a special awards ceremony.
The top prize in each category is $1,000.
In addition, the following prizes will be awarded:
- $500 for second place in each category
- $250 for third place in each category
- Honorable mentions in each category
