New council sworn in to large crowd of witnesses
Bayonne’s new city council was sworn in to a large crowd of witnesses on Wednesday, July 1, 2023, at the Bayonne Community Museum.
The council members are:
- Mayor Jimmy Davis
- Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski
- Council Vice President Juan Perez
- Councilman At-Large Sal Gullace
- Councilwoman At-Large Loyad Booker
- First Ward Councilman Neil Carroll
- Second Ward Councilman Sal Vega
- Third Ward Councilman Gary LaPelusa
The council members were sworn in by City Clerk Melissa Mathews.
In his inaugural address, Mayor Davis said that he is committed to working with the council to make Bayonne a better place for all residents.
"I am honored to have been elected mayor of this great city," Davis said. "I am committed to working with the council to make Bayonne a better place for all residents."
The council members then held their first meeting, where they discussed a number of issues, including the city budget and the upcoming election.
The new council is facing a number of challenges, including the city’s high crime rate and its struggling economy. However, the council members are confident that they can work together to make Bayonne a better place for all residents.
