An NHL linesman was stretchered off the ice after colliding with an Avalanche player during a game on Tuesday night.
Ryan Gibbons was injured in the first period of the game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Vancouver Canucks.
Gibbons was struck by Avalanche forward Alex Newhook as he was skating behind the net. Gibbons immediately fell to the ice and was attended to by medical staff.
Gibbons was eventually stretchered off the ice and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The NHL has not yet released any information on the extent of Gibbons' injuries.
The Avalanche went on to win the game 7-1.
