Nigeria's Super Eagles soar to victory against Rwanda's Amavubi

Super Eagles maintain top spot in Group L

Nigeria's Super Eagles have continued their impressive run in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, defeating Rwanda's Amavubi 2-0 in a crucial Group L encounter played in Kigali, Rwanda.

The victory sees Nigeria maintain their top spot in the group with 12 points from four matches, while Rwanda remain rooted bottom with just one point from four matches. Nigeria opened the scoring through Taiwo Awoniyi in the first half, and Moses Simon sealed the victory with a superb strike in the second half.

Speaking after the match, Nigeria's coach Augustine Eguavoen expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance. "I am very happy with the performance of my players," Eguavoen said. "We played very well and deserved the victory. We are now in a good position to qualify for the AFCON finals, and we will continue to work hard to achieve our goal."

Rwanda's coach Vincent Mashami was disappointed with the result, but praised his team for their effort. "We played well, but we made some mistakes that cost us the match," Mashami said. "We will learn from our mistakes and come back stronger in the next match."

With two matches remaining in the group stage, Nigeria is now in a strong position to qualify for the AFCON finals, which will be held in Cameroon in 2023.
