Ronaldo Scores Twice as Portugal Beats Poland in Nations League
Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Portugal beat Poland 3-2 in a Nations League match on Thursday.
The match was played in front of a sell-out crowd at the Municipal Stadium in Wroclaw, Poland.
Ronaldo's goals came in the 33rd and 52nd minutes.
He gave Portugal the lead with a header from a corner kick, and he doubled their advantage with a left-footed shot from inside the area.
Poland pulled one back through Robert Lewandowski in the 60th minute, but Ronaldo restored Portugal's two-goal lead just three minutes later.
Lewandowski scored again in the 88th minute, but it was not enough to prevent Poland from suffering their first defeat in the Nations League.
Ronaldo's goals were his 10th and 11th in the Nations League, and they moved him into second place in the all-time scoring charts.
He is now just one goal behind France's Kylian Mbappe, who has 12 goals.
Portugal's victory moved them to the top of Group A4, with three points from two games.
Poland dropped to third place, with two points from two games.
In the other match in Group A4, Romania and Kosovo played out a goalless draw.
The match was abandoned in the 82nd minute due to a waterlogged pitch.
The result leaves Romania in second place in the group, with one point from two games.
Kosovo are bottom of the group, with one point from two games.
