Scotland and Poland Draw in UEFA Nations League Match
Scotland and Poland played out a 1-1 draw in their UEFA Nations League match at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.
Scotland took the lead through Lyndon Dykes in the first half, but Poland equalised through Krzysztof Piatek in the second half.
The result leaves Scotland in third place in Group B1, while Poland remain top of the group.
Scotland started the match brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute when Dykes headed home a cross from Ryan Fraser.
Poland grew into the game as the half wore on and had a number of chances to equalise, but they were denied by some excellent saves from Craig Gordon.
Poland continued to press in the second half and eventually got their equaliser in the 62nd minute when Piatek headed home a cross from Robert Lewandowski.
Both teams had chances to win the game in the closing stages, but neither side could find a winning goal.
Post-Match Reaction
Scotland manager Steve Clarke was disappointed with the result, but he praised his players for their effort.
"We started the game well and took the lead, but Poland came back into it and got a deserved equaliser," Clarke said.
"We had a few chances to win the game in the second half, but we couldn't take them.
"Overall, I'm disappointed with the result, but I'm proud of my players for their effort."
Poland manager Czesław Michniewicz was pleased with the result and he praised his players for their character.
"We didn't start the game well, but we came back into it and got a deserved equaliser," Michniewicz said.
"We had a few chances to win the game in the second half, but we couldn't take them.
"Overall, I'm pleased with the result and I'm proud of my players for their character."
