Scotland, Poland in Nations League relegation battle after frustrating draws
Scotland 1-1 Ukraine, Poland 0-0 Wales
Scotland and Poland have been dragged into a relegation battle in the UEFA Nations League after both sides were held to frustrating draws in their respective matches on Tuesday.
Scotland held by Ukraine
Scotland needed a win to secure their place in League B, but they were pegged back by a late goal from Artem Dovbyk in a 1-1 draw with Ukraine in Glasgow.
Lyndon Dykes had given Scotland the lead in the first half, but Dovbyk's equalizer in the 90th minute means Steve Clarke's side will now face a relegation play-off in March.
Poland held by Wales
Poland's hopes of promotion to League A were dented after they were held to a goalless draw by Wales in Cardiff.
The Poles had the better chances in the match, but they were unable to find a way past the Wales defense.
Relegation battle looms
Scotland and Poland will now face each other in a relegation play-off in March. The loser of that match will be relegated to League C.
Scotland will be favorites to win the play-off, but Poland will be hoping to avoid a second successive relegation from the Nations League.
