Sudan Vs Angola: Uganda’s Okello to command security in Benghazi
Okello will lead other security officials from Uganda, Seychelles, Egypt and Djibouti to Benghazi.
The Confederation of African Football [CAF] has appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Asan Kasingye, to lead security during the Sudan vs. Angola match in Benghazi, Libya. The match, scheduled for March 2023, is part of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers.
AIGP Kasingye, who is also the Commandant of the Uganda Police’s Very Important Persons Protection Unit (VIPPU), will lead a team of security officials from Uganda, Seychelles, Egypt, and Djibouti to Benghazi.
CAF has been working closely with the Libyan Football Federation (LFF) to ensure the safety of all participants in the match.
The security team will be responsible for crowd control, anti-terrorism measures, and the protection of players, officials, and spectators.
AIGP Kasingye has extensive experience in security operations, having served in various capacities within the Uganda Police Force.
He has also represented Uganda at several international security conferences and training programs.
