Van der Gijp names two analysts he 'misses on TV'

Voetbal Inside analyst Wim Kieft recently indicated that he no longer feels like commenting on football. Johan Derksen indicated that the absence of a real opponent on television is one of the reasons for this. René van der Gijp agrees with that and also misses two other analysts in television broadcasts.

The absence of Van Basten and Youri Mulder on TV is something that Van der Gijp really misses. "When Marco and Youri were present, we always said: if those two say that, then we have to go there," says Van der Gijp in the podcast of VI. "Especially Marco, of course, that was always fun. We argued a lot with each other, but that was good for the program."

Van der Gijp also misses the late Johan Cruijff. "If we had him now, when we can see how football has become..." The analyst does not like the way football is currently played. "It's all tactics, you don't see beauty anymore. I miss someone like Cruijff terribly."

Van der Gijp hopes that Mulder and Van Basten will return to television in the future. "I think Mulder would be very good at it," says Van der Gijp. "And Marco would be perfect for our program. I would like to see that happen again."
