Video: New exhibition in Germany challenges stereotypes of Africa through art
The exhibition, titled "Africa: The Art of a Continent," features over 200 works by African artists from the 19th century to the present day.
The exhibition aims to challenge the stereotypical view of Africa as a continent of poverty and war, and to showcase the rich and diverse artistic traditions of the continent.
The exhibition is divided into four sections, each of which explores a different aspect of African art. The first section, "The Body and the Spirit," features works that explore the human form and the relationship between the physical and spiritual worlds.
The second section, "The Land and the People," features works that explore the relationship between Africans and their environment. The third section, "The City and the Village," features works that explore the urban and rural landscapes of Africa.
The fourth and final section, "The Future of Africa," features works by contemporary African artists that explore the challenges and opportunities facing the continent.
The exhibition is curated by Dr. Clémentine Deliss, a leading expert on African art. Deliss said that she hopes the exhibition will help to change the way people think about Africa.
"I want people to see that Africa is not a continent of poverty and war," Deliss said. "It is a continent with a rich and diverse culture, and a vibrant artistic tradition."
The exhibition is open to the public until March 10, 2023. For more information, visit the website of the German Museum of Ethnology.
