Bentancur handed seven-match suspension
Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been handed a seven-match suspension by the Football Association for violent conduct.
The Uruguayan international was sent off during Tottenham's Premier League match against Arsenal on 15 January 2023 for a challenge on Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Bentancur's suspension means he will miss Tottenham's next seven Premier League games, including matches against Manchester City, Leicester City, and Manchester United.
The midfielder will also miss Tottenham's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Sheffield United on 1 March 2023.
Bentancur has been a key player for Tottenham this season, making 22 appearances in all competitions.
His suspension is a blow to Tottenham's hopes of finishing in the Premier League's top four and winning the FA Cup.
Tottenham are currently fifth in the Premier League table, two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
They will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat to Arsenal when they face Manchester City on 19 February 2023.
