The Biden administration has requested approximately $100 billion in disaster relief funding from Congress to address the devastating impacts of recent natural disasters. These funds will play a crucial role in supporting long-term recovery efforts across the country, investing in resilient infrastructure and providing much-needed financial assistance to impacted communities.

The request comes in response to a series of unprecedented natural disasters that have ravaged communities in recent months, including Hurricanes Ian and Fiona, as well as wildfires in the Western United States. These events have caused widespread damage to infrastructure, homes, and businesses, leaving many families and communities facing significant financial hardships.

The proposed funding package includes:

$60 billion for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support disaster response and recovery efforts, including debris removal, emergency shelter, and infrastructure repair.
$20 billion for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide housing assistance to families and individuals who have lost their homes or have been displaced due to disasters.
