Calgary Hitmen Sign Defenseman Linden Burrett to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement
Young Prospect Joins Hitmen Organization
The Calgary Hitmen announced today that they have signed defenseman Linden Burrett to a Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Burrett, 15, is a 6'2", 175-pound native of Calgary, Alberta. He played last season with the Calgary Flames U16 AAA team, where he recorded 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) in 32 games.
Burrett Brings Size and Skill to Hitmen Blueline
Burrett is a strong, physical defenseman who uses his size to his advantage. He is a good skater and has a good shot. He is also a reliable defender who can play in all situations.
"We are very excited to add Linden to our organization," said Hitmen General Manager Brad McEwen. "He is a big, physical defenseman who can play in all situations. We think he has a lot of potential and we are looking forward to watching him develop."
Burrett is the third player to sign a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Hitmen this season. He will join the team for training camp in August.
The WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement is a one-year agreement that allows teams to sign players who are still eligible for the WHL Bantam Draft. The agreement gives teams exclusive rights to the player for one season and also provides the player with financial assistance for education and development.
The Calgary Hitmen are a member of the Western Hockey League. They are the only WHL team in Alberta and have won two WHL Championships (1999, 2010).
