Las Vegas Police Officer Arrested in Home Invasion

Officer Accused of Burglarizing Home While on Duty

A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officer has been arrested and charged with burglary and home invasion after allegedly breaking into a home while on duty. The officer, identified as 25-year-old John Doe, is accused of entering a home in the southwest part of the city on January 10, 2023, and stealing several items, including jewelry and electronics.

According to the arrest report, Doe was on patrol when he saw the victim's home with its front door unlocked. He allegedly entered the home and took several items before leaving. The victim, who was not home at the time, discovered the burglary when he returned home later that day and called the police.

Investigation Leads to Officer's Arrest

The LVMPD's Internal Affairs Bureau launched an investigation into the burglary, which led to Doe being identified as a suspect. He was arrested on January 12, 2023, and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He has been charged with burglary and home invasion, both of which are felonies.

The LVMPD has placed Doe on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation and an internal affairs investigation. The department is also conducting a review of its policies and procedures to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
